Hey folks. I’m Dean Knight, also know as The Rose Man. A single guy who loves flowers, passionate about food and cooking , relishes a great book to read (partial to non-fiction) and has a hankering for history and current events.

I grew up in the family flower business (2nd generation) in a small southern town called Lake City (now called Rocky Top).

Not giving a flip about working in the family posey business, I took off to college on a music scholarship at the University of Tennessee. Spent 4 years having the time of my life then ended up leaving college with just 4 credits away from graduation. Crazy huh…don’t ask.

After a few years (2 actually) of working with my dad in his Lafollette flower shop I was craving for something different. So, off to New York to be…taha…a ballroom dance instructor. Huh? Don’t Ask. Not finding a job and not wanting be a starving artist I got a job at the only thing I was good at-flowers. Had a gas designing flowers, but still a semi-starving artist given the fact that most flowers designers in NYC don’t make a lot of money. Tooo expensive living conditions. So… packed up my bags and moved to a least expensive city. San Francisco. Again loved it. After about a year disaster struck. I lost all my hearing and had to have a major ear operation with the best doc for this procedure being in Memphis and it was a year of recuperation. Oh well, back to Tennessee…for good.

I took over my dad’s Clinton shop and some 25+ years later I’m still here and having loving it…mostly.
